FAQ
Short answers to the questions that come up most. Each one links to the page that covers it properly.
The basics
What is Sort Feed?
A Chrome extension that re-orders the feed you're already looking at. Open a profile, a search or a saved collection, rank it by views, likes, comments or outlier score, then export, download or transcribe what you find.
Who is it for?
Creators, editors, social media managers and agencies who research short-form video. Anyone who needs to know which posts in a niche actually worked before writing the next script.
Does it change anything on the platform?
No. Sort Feed doesn't post, like, follow, or save anything to your Instagram account, and the creator has no way of knowing you sorted their profile. Refreshing the page puts the original feed back. Sort Feed's own Save keeps posts in your Sort Feed account, not on Instagram.
Where it works
Which browsers?
Chrome and other Chromium browsers, including Edge, Brave and Arc. There's no Safari version and no mobile version, because Sort Feed needs a desktop browser extension to run.
Which platforms and pages?
Instagram profiles, Explore search and Saved; TikTok profiles, search, Favorites, Liked and collections; Facebook reels; YouTube Videos and Shorts. What works where is the full matrix.
Can I use it on more than one computer?
Yes. Your licence follows your Sort Feed account, so sign in on the second machine the same way you did on the first.
Safety and data
Do you need my login?
No. Sort Feed never asks for a platform password and can't see one. It reads the data the page you're already signed into has loaded, and sorts it in your browser.
Does anything leave my computer?
Transcription, the posts you save, and the results of any sort you ask Claude or ChatGPT for through Sort Feed MCP. The video's audio goes to Sort Feed's transcription service and the text comes back. A saved post, with a copy of its cover and video, is kept in your Sort Feed account. Sorting, filtering, exports and downloads all happen locally. Transcribing videos and Saving cover both.
Features
What is an outlier score?
A post's views divided by that creator's own median. A 6× score means it pulled six times their usual numbers, so it's a breakout rather than a big account posting as normal. Outlier score explains how the baseline is built.
What gets exported?
The profile, a link to the post, the date, views, likes, comments and the caption, plus shares and saves where the platform has them, plus transcripts when you've run them. CSV, JSON, Excel or a new Google Sheet. Exporting your data lists every column.
Can I download and transcribe?
Yes, on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. Downloads are watermark-free and unlimited on the free plan. Transcription is Pro and unlimited. YouTube has neither. Downloading media has the detail.
Can I save posts to come back to later?
Yes, on Instagram. Click Save on any post and it's kept with its numbers, caption and video. Organize what you've saved into collections, export it, or share a link on the web. Free holds 50 saved posts and Pro has no limit. Saving covers it.
Can I use it from Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes, on Instagram, with Pro. Connect Sort Feed MCP once and ask Claude or ChatGPT to sort a profile, a search or your saved posts. The sort runs in your browser and the top posts come back in the chat, with a Google Sheet, CSV, JSON or Excel file.
Plans and help
What's free and what's Pro?
Free sorts the latest 25 posts or one week of content, with every sort, every export, unlimited downloads and 50 saved posts. Pro lifts that to 1,000 posts or everything, adds custom counts and date ranges, unlimited transcripts in your exports, and unlimited saves. Plans & billing covers both.
Something isn't working
Refresh the page first, which fixes most of it. Troubleshooting covers the rest.
How do I suggest a feature?
Say so in the Discord or email taher@sortfeed.com. Requests from users are where most of the roadmap comes from.
