Saving

New: save any Instagram reel, photo or carousel in one click, and find it later on the web with its numbers.

Save sits above Download and Transcribe when you hover on posts.

The problem it solves

Research runs across a lot of profiles, and the posts worth keeping end up scattered across open tabs, screenshots and Instagram's own Saved, which keeps the post but not the numbers that made you stop.

Save puts every reference in one place, with the views, likes and comments it had when you found it. You save on Instagram, and you organize, export and share on the web.

How to save

A Save button, a small bookmark, sits on every reel, photo and carousel above Download and Transcribe. Click it and it's saved. It's there wherever Sort Feed puts buttons on Instagram:

  • The cards of a sorted grid.
  • Posts as you browse profiles, Explore search, Instagram's Saved and its collections, with no sort involved.
  • A single post page and the Reels feed.
  • The player, where Save leads the actions beside the numbers. Press S to save the post you're watching. Controls & shortcuts has the other keys.

What you'll see

A message at the bottom of the page confirms it: Reel saved to your library, with View saved to open it on the web. The bookmark fills in, and it stays filled on that post wherever you meet it again.

Clicking a filled bookmark removes the post, and the message offers Undo in case that was a slip.

What gets kept

A save keeps the post as it was the moment you clicked: the creator, the caption, the post date and the link, plus the views, likes and comments at that time. The numbers don't update afterwards, so they read as a snapshot of when you found it.

Sort Feed also keeps its own copy of the cover, the creator's photo and the video. Instagram's video links expire within hours, and a creator can delete a post, so the copy is what lets a saved reel keep playing, downloading and transcribing months later. Only Open on Instagram stops working once a post is gone.

Signing in

Saves belong to your Sort Feed account rather than to one browser, so Save needs you signed in. Signed out, clicking it shows Sign in to save, and the sign-in takes you straight back.

Your saved posts follow the account, so signing in on a second computer shows the same ones.

Who gets it

Save is on every plan. The free plan holds 50 saved posts and 3 collections, which is plenty for a working swipe file. Pro and lifetime plans have unlimited saves and collections.

On the free plan a note says how many saves are left once you're close, and the 51st save shows Your library is full, with a link to Pro. Removing a post frees its place straight away. Plans & billing covers the rest.

If Pro ends, nothing is deleted. Every saved post and collection stays, and you can still open, sort, export and download all of them. Only new saves wait until you're back under 50, or back on Pro.

Where it works

Save is on Instagram only for now, and it's in Beta. TikTok, Facebook and YouTube don't have it yet.

The button can be switched off. Open Sort Feed on Instagram, click the gear, and turn Save button off under Display.
