Privacy Policy

Sort Feed is a Chrome extension that sorts, exports, downloads, transcribes and saves content on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube. This policy explains what it collects, what it deliberately does not, and what you can ask us to delete.

It covers the extension, the website at sortfeed.com, the account portal at account.sortfeed.com, and your saved posts at app.sortfeed.com. Sort Feed is operated by Taher El Sheikh, and "we" below means the same.

Sort Feed works without an account. On the free plan, sorting, exporting and downloading collect nothing, because none of it reaches our servers.

When you sign in or buy Pro, we keep a small account record:

Email address

the address you sign in with. It identifies your account and restores your Pro access on a new browser or machine

User ID

an internal identifier that links your account to your subscription

Plan state

whether the account is free, Pro or legacy

Subscription details

your plan, its status, and its renewal or end date, passed to us by Lemon Squeezy

License key

kept only if you activated Pro with a key instead of signing in

Transcription jobs

one row for each transcription: the platform, the post ID, the creator handle, the length of the audio, and whether the job finished

Monthly usage

the transcription seconds used each day and each month, which is how the transcription limits in our Terms are counted

Similar accounts lookups

how many new lookups you ran each day, which is how the daily and monthly limits are counted

Google Sheets token

kept only if you connect Google Sheets, and only so a spreadsheet can be created when you click Export

Saved posts

kept only if you use Save: the posts you saved, copies of their media, and the collections, tags, notes and share links you add, described under Save below

A sort reads the data the platform already sent your browser to draw the page, and puts it back in a different order. That data lives in the tab while the tab is open and is cleared when you close it. It is never uploaded and we cannot see it, unless you ask for the sort through Sort Feed MCP, covered below.

The same is true of most of what the extension does:

• Downloads go straight from the platform to your device. The file never passes through our servers.
• The Instagram player plays the video the page had already loaded.
• Outlier scores are worked out in the browser, from the posts on screen.
• CSV, JSON and Excel exports are built by the extension and saved by your browser.

Google Sheets is the exception among the exports, because the spreadsheet has to be created inside your Google account.

Save is the other exception. A post you save is stored with us so you can open it from any computer, and downloads, exports and transcripts of your saved posts on app.sortfeed.com run from our copy.

Transcribing a video sends its audio off your device, because a speech model has to hear it.

The extension sends the platform's own media URL to our Cloudflare Worker, along with the post ID, the creator handle and your user ID. The worker fetches the audio, runs it through Whisper on Cloudflare Workers AI, and returns the text to your browser. If the media URL cannot be reached from Cloudflare, which happens for some Instagram accounts, your browser fetches the audio itself and uploads it to the same worker instead.

The audio is processed in memory and is not saved. The transcript comes back to you and is not stored on our side, except when you transcribe a saved post: then the worker reads the video from our copy, and the transcript is kept with that post. The model runs on Cloudflare's own infrastructure, so your audio is not sent to OpenAI or to any other AI provider.

What remains is the job row described above. It exists to count your usage against the transcription limits in our Terms (500 minutes a day and 5,000 a month) and to refund a job that failed.

Exporting to Google Sheets creates a spreadsheet in your Google account, so it needs your permission and it sends the rows you are exporting.

The first time you use it, Google asks you to connect your account. We store the resulting token on our servers against your user ID, and use it for one job: creating a new spreadsheet when you click Export, and writing your sorted rows into it. Those rows are the ones you can see in any other export, including captions and transcripts where you have them. They pass through the worker to Google and are not saved on our side.

We do not open, read, change or delete anything else in your Google account. You can disconnect Sort Feed at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. The next export asks you to connect again, which is also how you move Sort Feed to a different Google account.

Similar accounts lists Instagram accounts like the profile you just sorted. Clicking Similar sends that profile's Instagram ID and username to our Cloudflare Worker, along with your user ID.

The worker checks that your plan includes Similar accounts and that you are within its limits: up to 100 new lookups a day and 2,000 a month. If the list for that profile is not already cached, the worker asks an Instagram data provider for it, sending only the profile's Instagram ID. Nothing about you or your account is sent to the provider.

The list that comes back holds public accounts only: their usernames, names, verified status and profile photo links. It is cached for about four days and reused for anyone who sorts the same profile, and nothing about you is stored with it.

What remains about you is the daily count of your lookups described above. A lookup answered from the cache is not counted. Each request is also written to our worker logs with your user ID and the profile's ID.

Save keeps the Instagram posts you choose in your Sort Feed account, so you can organize them at app.sortfeed.com. It needs you to be signed in, and nothing is sent until you click Save.

Clicking Save sends the post to our Cloudflare Worker along with your user ID: its link and ID, the creator's username, name, profile photo link, follower count and verified status, the caption, the publish date, the views, likes, comments, shares and saves it had at that moment, and links to its cover, video and carousel slides.

The worker then copies the cover image, the creator's profile photo and the video into our storage on Cloudflare R2, because Instagram's links expire within hours. That copy is what lets a saved post keep playing and downloading later, even after the creator deletes it. The files are served from addresses that contain a random part and are not listed anywhere.

What you add on app.sortfeed.com is stored with your posts: collections, tags, notes, the transcripts you run, and your view and sort choices.

Share links

A share link makes the post, collection, creator or platform it points to viewable by anyone who has the link, without signing in. The page shows the posts, their numbers and captions, and the display name from your sign in. It never shows your notes, your tags or your email address. Turning a link off stops it straight away.

Removing posts

A post you remove disappears from your saved posts at once. It is kept for seven more days so Undo, or a request to support, can bring it back, then it is permanently deleted along with its copied files. Collections and share links you remove follow the same rule.

Sort Feed MCP is an optional Pro feature that lets you ask Claude, made by Anthropic, or ChatGPT, made by OpenAI, to run a sort for you. It only works after you connect it and click Allow on your Sort Feed account. To send each request to the right browser, we record which Sort Feed account the extension in that browser belongs to.

A request goes from that app to our server and on to the extension in your browser, which runs the sort the way it always does. The results, meaning the posts, their numbers and their links, go back through our server to the app you asked, which handles them under its own privacy policy. Your Instagram password and session stay in your browser.

We keep the results of your last 50 sorts so you can export them, and download links stop working after 24 hours. Sorts of public Instagram content may be cached for up to an hour and reused when another account asks for the same sort. Your saved posts and collections are never cached or shared.

To turn it off, click Disconnect in your account settings, then remove Sort Feed from Claude's connectors or ChatGPT's plugins.

Chrome lists an extension's permissions when you install it. Here is what Sort Feed asks for, and why:

Storage

holds your plan state and a few settings, such as whether the player opens muted

Tabs and activeTab

let the popup act on the tab you are looking at, and open a new tab when a sheet or a sign in page is ready

webNavigation

reports when a page has finished loading, so a sort knows when to start

declarativeNetRequest

adds one header to TikTok's own post requests so the extension can recognise them. It reads no other traffic

Site access

instagram.com, tiktok.com, facebook.com, youtube.com and sortfeed.com. Sort Feed cannot see any other site you visit

Sort Feed does not request the identity permission and does not read your Chrome profile. Your email address reaches us only when you type it into the sign in page.

Your data is used to run the product, and for nothing else:

• Tell whether an account is free or Pro.
• Restore your Pro access when you sign in somewhere new.
• Count transcription minutes against the daily and monthly limits.
• Create the spreadsheet you asked for.
• Look up similar accounts, and count those lookups against the daily and monthly limits.
• Keep the posts you save, and show the ones you share to the people you send the link to.
• Run the sorts you ask Claude or ChatGPT for, and keep their results for export.
• Answer your support emails.

We do not sell your data, we do not rent it, and we do not use it to train models.

Four companies process data on our behalf. Each gets only what its job needs:

Cloudflare

hosts the website, runs the workers, stores the account database and your saved posts with their copied files, and runs the transcription model

Supabase

handles sign in, either with Google or with a code sent to your email address

Lemon Squeezy

sells the subscription and holds the payment details. We never see your card

Google

receives the rows of a Google Sheets export, and only when you run one

Similar accounts uses one more provider, an Instagram data service, which receives only the Instagram ID of the profile you sorted. It never receives your user ID, your email or anything else about you.

Each is bound by its own privacy and security terms. Apart from the app you connect through Sort Feed MCP, we share your information with no one else.

The extension sets no cookies and reports nothing about your browsing.

The website runs one third-party script, from Lemon Squeezy, so that an affiliate is credited when someone they referred subscribes. It sets a cookie, and the site keeps a referral code in your browser's local storage for 30 days. That is the whole of it: no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording. Cloudflare keeps standard server logs for the website, as any host does.

Account records and saved posts live in Cloudflare D1, the files copied by Save live in Cloudflare R2, and every request to our workers runs over HTTPS.

We hold no passwords and no card details. Sign in is handled by Supabase and payment by Lemon Squeezy, so neither ever reaches us.

We keep your account record for as long as the account exists. Transcription job rows, monthly usage counters and daily Similar accounts lookup counts are kept as quota and billing records. A Google Sheets token is kept until you disconnect it. When you ask us to delete your data, we delete the record.

Sort Feed MCP keeps the results of your last 50 sorts, replacing the oldest as new ones come in.

Saved posts are kept until you remove them, and are permanently deleted seven days after that. When you ask us to delete your data, that includes every saved post, its copied files, and your collections, tags, notes and share links.

You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or its deletion. Email taher@sortfeed.com and we will act on it within 30 days.

Some of it you can do yourself. Cancel a subscription from account.sortfeed.com, disconnect Google Sheets from your Google account, remove saved posts and turn share links off at app.sortfeed.com, and remove the extension to clear everything it stored locally.

If you are in the UK or the EU, we process your account data to perform the contract you entered when you subscribed, and on a legitimate interest in running the product for everyone else. You have the right to access, correct, export and delete that data, and to complain to your local supervisory authority.

If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines those terms.

Sort Feed is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

We update this policy as the product changes. The current version is always at sortfeed.com/privacy, and the date at the top says when it last moved. Material changes are sent to subscribers by email.
