Introduction

Sort Feed MCP lets you ask Claude or ChatGPT to sort Instagram for you: a profile, a search or your saved posts. The sort runs through the Sort Feed in your own browser, and the top posts come back in the chat.

What it is

MCP is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use other apps on your behalf. Sort Feed MCP is Sort Feed's side of that: once it's connected, Claude or ChatGPT can run the sorts you'd run from the extension on Instagram, without you opening it.

Nothing new is installed. The assistant sends the request to Sort Feed's server, the server hands it to the extension in your browser, and the extension does the sort in a background tab the way it always has. The results go back to the chat.

Sort Feed MCP is included with Pro, works with Claude and ChatGPT, and covers Instagram today. It's in beta. The Sort Feed MCP page walks through each setup step.

What you can do

Ask for any profile's Reels or Posts, ranked by views, likes, comments, outlier score or oldest, over the latest few dozen posts or a stretch of time. Several profiles in one prompt run one after another.

You can also sort an Explore search, everything in Saved, or a single Saved collection. Search and collections rank by likes, comments or oldest, and Saved All Posts by likes or oldest. Asking for a sort has the recipe and example prompts.

The top posts come back as a table in the chat, with a link on each one. The full sorted set is a Google Sheet, CSV, JSON or Excel file away, with the same columns as the extension's own export.

What it can't do yet

Sort Feed MCP sorts and exports today, and the extension keeps doing the rest.

  • Instagram only. TikTok, Facebook and YouTube profiles still sort from the extension.
  • No downloads or transcripts from the chat. Run those from the sorted grid or the player as usual.

Your account

Sort Feed MCP is read only. It never likes, follows, comments, messages or posts, and it reads the same numbers the extension reads today.

It works one profile at a time, at the pace of a person scrolling, with pauses between pages, and it stops at the first sign that Instagram wants it to slow down. Instagram sees someone scrolling.

Your Instagram password and session never leave your browser, and Sort Feed never sees the password at all. What goes to Claude or ChatGPT is the result of the sorts you asked for: the posts, their numbers and their links.
