DocsPlayer

Controls & shortcuts

Everything in the player is a click or a key away. This page lists the controls under the video, the two buttons beside the numbers, the ••• menu, and every shortcut.

Playback

The controls under the video are the ones you'd expect: play and pause, five seconds back or forward, a scrubber, playback speed from 0.5× to 3×, and mute.

Mute is remembered. Turn the sound off once and every post you open after that, on any platform, opens muted until you turn it back on.

Actions

Two buttons sit under the numbers. Transcribe turns the post you're watching into text, right there in the player, and needs Pro like every transcript. Transcribing videos covers the rest. Open on Instagram, TikTok or Facebook opens the post on the platform in a new tab, for when you want the comments.

On Instagram, Save sits above them and keeps the post in your saved posts. Saving covers it.

The ••• menu holds the rest: download the video or the photos, download the thumbnail, copy the link, copy the caption, and copy the post as a row for a spreadsheet. Downloading media covers what a download gives you.

Keyboard shortcuts

Every shortcut is printed in its button's tooltip, so there's nothing to memorise.

  • Left and right arrows, for the previous and next post in the sort.
  • Space plays and pauses.
  • M mutes and unmutes.
  • T starts a transcript.
  • S saves the post, on Instagram.
  • Escape closes the player.

If a video won't play

The links the platforms hand out for video expire after a few hours. The player fetches a fresh one on its own the first time a video fails, so a single retry is normal and needs nothing from you.

If a post still won't play, the grid has usually been open for a long time. Refresh the page and sort again, or use Open on the platform, which always works.
