Asking for a sort

Give Claude or ChatGPT three things in plain words: the username, how much to look at, and what to rank by. The sort runs in your browser and the top posts come back in the chat.

The recipe

Name the profile, say how much of it to look at, and say what to rank by. The assistant fills in the rest and starts the sort. Anything you leave out gets a sensible default: the latest 25, ranked by views.

These four cover most of what people ask. Copy one and change the username.

  • Sort natgeo's latest 50 reels by views and show me the top 5.
  • Sort lululemon's reels from the last 3 months by outlier score and show me what broke out.
  • Sort natgeo and nasa, latest 100 reels each, by outlier score, and give me the CSV.
  • Sort leomessi's posts from this month by comments and put them in a Google Sheet.

While it runs

In the browser, a tab opens on the profile with the yellow overlay and the progress banner you'd see on any sort. It runs in the background, so you can keep working in another window, but that browser has to stay open.

Most sorts finish within a minute. A big one takes a few, and the assistant tells you as each profile is done, then shows the top posts in a table with a link on each one.

Profile sorts

On a profile, the sort is the extension's profile sort, so the choices are the ones the panel gives you.

  • The Reels tab or the Posts tab of any public profile, or a private one you follow.
  • The latest 25, 50, 100 or any number of posts up to 500, or everything since a date, such as the last two weeks.
  • Ranked by views, likes, comments, outlier score or oldest. Reels default to views and posts to likes.
  • Several profiles in one prompt. The assistant sorts them one after another and tells you as each one finishes.
  • Up to 25 rows in the chat. The full sorted set goes in the export.

Search and Saved

You can also sort an Explore search, everything in Saved, or one Saved collection. Search and collections rank by likes, comments or oldest, and Saved All Posts by likes or oldest. Views, outlier score and date ranges stay with profiles.

Each sort reads 25 posts by default and up to 500. Name a collection the way it appears on your Saved page, and the assistant asks if the name fits more than one. Three to start from:

  • Sort by likes the search results from these keywords: "Tennis" and "US Open".
  • Sort my saved posts by likes and show me the top 10.
  • Sort my Recipes collection by comments and give me the Excel file.

Getting the results out

Every sort comes with a CSV, a JSON file and an Excel workbook, with the same columns as the extension's own export for that page. Ask for one and the assistant saves it where you say, or gives it to you in the chat. Exporting your data lists the columns.

Ask for a Google Sheet and the assistant creates one in your own Drive, through the Google account you connected in Sort Feed's settings. It's the sheet the extension's Export button makes, and Google Sheets covers connecting Google the first time. If Google isn't connected, it falls back to the CSV and says so.

Beta limits

One sort covers up to 500 posts, from a profile, a search or Saved. Ask for more and the assistant sorts 500 and tells you that's the limit.

Behind that sits an hourly and a daily budget of Instagram page loads, shared across everything you ask for. It's enough for about forty 50-post sorts an hour, or four or five at the full 500. When you reach it, the assistant says so and tells you how many minutes until it frees up.

A date range that reaches further back than the newest 500 posts comes back as out of reach rather than empty. Ask for the latest 500 instead and filter from there.

If the assistant says no

  • You need a Sort Feed Pro plan to use Sort Feed MCP. Check that you connected with the email on your Pro plan.
  • You've hit the beta limit. The assistant tells you how long to wait, and everything collected so far is kept.
  • The profile is private or wasn't found. Sort Feed sees what your Instagram account sees, so a private profile you don't follow stays invisible.
  • The collection wasn't found. The assistant lists your collections so you can pick the right name.
  • Sort Feed isn't connected. Connect Claude or ChatGPT covers the connection and what to check when it drops.
  • Anything else, Troubleshooting has the general fixes and how to reach us.
